Every year I go to Butchart’s as part of my Christmas celebrations.
At Christmas, Butchart Gardens puts up a beautiful light display that shows each of the 12 days of Christmas.
The first thing to look for is the partridge in a pear tree. Here’s a picture of how it looks:

Then find the other 11 days of Christmas… like the 4 calling birds, 3 French hens and 2 turtle doves.
My favourite part of my visit is listening to holiday favourites – the singers are really good and they switch every half hour with a great brass band.
We usually have dinner in the Blue Poppy restaurant, and we will probably do it again!
If you enjoy it at Christmas, it is worth it to buy a pass and come here, especially at night with all of the lights. The gardens are beautiful at any time of year.
There are buses that you can take – the number 75 goes right in, or you can take a tour bus from downtown. Some of them are even double deckers! Check the schedule to learn more.
At Christmas time, make sure to book your visit in advance if you can, as it gets so busy that you sometimes need a timed reservation.
Have fun seeing the lights at Butchart Gardens!
