I went to the Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan to see the Halloween decorations. And guess what?
The steam engine was operating! It hasn’t been going for quite a while. I was really glad to see it and hear the steam whistle!

The Forest Discovery Centre is quite accessible. There is wheelchair parking right by the entrance. Unfortunately there isn’t a button to open the entrance door automatically, so you need someone to open it for you.
Once inside, things are pretty accessible. It’s easy to buy a ticket and get to the train or go for a walk on the paths through the small forest. There is one wheelchair accessible washroom near the train station. There is also a concession stand with coffee, hot dogs and popcorn that is small but accessible.
The train has one car with a wheelchair lift. There’s lots of space for wheelchairs, including power chairs. I like to sit at the back, so I can see the engine.

Usually I get off the train and walk around, but it was too busy today to do that. Maybe next time!
As you can see from these pictures, there was lots to see. I had a great time! Maybe I will see you there next year.
Make sure you check the website and book your visit in advance for the special Halloween train, or you might not get on! At Halloween you only get one ride because it is so busy. During the summer, I usually stay on the train and go around several times!
